Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Boston Patriots got the win.
Boston picked up a win at Dunkin Donuts Park, bumping off the Baltimore Bullets, 4-2. Pitcher Roy Roberts was a major reason the Patriots emerged victorious. Roberts yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-3. Picking up his 15th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Lawrence Wood.
Tied up with the Bullets in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Patriots got a boost from center fielder Herb Tenney. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Tenney saw a 0-1 curveball from Teika Fukuda and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Boston on top, 3-2.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Roberts.
The win boosted Boston to 59-37.
