Grand Forks used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ryan Ward to down the Huntington Hermit Crabs, 4-1. In 6 innings, Ward surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Mark Peterson earned the save for Grand Forks, his 2nd.
Grand Forks used a well-timed hit by Ramil Laygo to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Laygo told a Grand Forks News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Grand Forks now has a record of 2-4.
