Walleye Best Hobeaus in Pitching Duel
|
The Walla Walla Walleye downed the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 2-0, at Walleye Tank. Walla Walla pitcher Jonathan Kemp had a scintillating performance. Kemp got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Ron Smith collected save number 2.
The Walleye got a big at-bat from left fielder Olakeakua Gymea. For the game, Gymea was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Walla Walla a 1-0 lead.
"I like our moxie," said Walleye manager Félix Cruz.
The Walleye, now 8-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
