4-2 Loss Extends Smoky Mountain Losing Streak
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Pontiac Godfathers and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus.
Pontiac pitcher Steve Stewart had a large part in his team subduing the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Stewart, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jesse Yates notched his 6th save of the season.
Steve Owens had a direct impact on the outcome. Owens contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Pontiac up, 2-1.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Stewart.
The win gives Pontiac a record of 6-4.
