The Pontiac Godfathers converted a terrific effort from starter Arthur Tidwell into a win over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus at Smokies Stadium. The Godfathers won the game by a final score of 3-1. The loss drops the Hobeaus to 6-5.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jorge Cruz? The 22-year old center fielder Cruz stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Pontiac up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
