Wasko Leads Smoky Mountain to 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus and the Walla Walla Walleye, Wanko Wasko was the X factor. The Smoky Mountain left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Albert Longoria collected save number 6. The win takes Smoky Mountain to 7-5.
Wasko, a native of Akron, Ohio, was dealing all game. He kept Walla Walla hitters off-balance, while giving the Hobeaus 8 quality innings. Wasko threw 103 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Hobeaus manager Belchior Tinoco. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
