Caterpillars Win, 2-1, Over Philadelphia
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars used a great performance from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Len Horton to beat the Philadelphia Liberty U-24, 2-1, at Liberty Youth Field. Mark Peterson earned the save for Grand Forks, his 5th of the year. The win gives Grand Forks a record of 8-6.
The Caterpillars benefited from an error in the top of the second inning. Grand Forks was leading 1-0 when Dou-guan Yang hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Grand Forks in front, 2-0.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Philadelphia manager Dan Fletcher. "Obviously."
