The Monroeville Yinzers topped the Holy City Herons, 4-3, in USSL Single A action at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Monroeville pitcher Matthew Brown. The winner was Brown. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Luis Domínguez. Burton Goodman closed it out for his 3rd save.
The Yinzers got a big at-bat from shortstop Max Christie. For the game, Christie was 1 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Monroeville a 2-1 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Christie said.
The Herons, now 4-12, continue their inauspicious start.
