The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus locked up a win at Pipers Ballpark, knocking off the Caldwell Chiefs, 5-2. On the mound for Smoky Mountain was right-hander Brennan Riggs. He played a major role in the triumph. Riggs, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Mario García picked up the save, his 1st.

Dax Saldaña provided a timely hit. The Smoky Mountain pinch hitter delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hobeaus on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
