Liberty U-24 Score Late to Beat Hermit Crabs, 3-2
|
Philadelphia registered a win at Liberty Youth Field by beating the Huntington Hermit Crabs, 3-2. Pitcher Franklin Vaughn was one reason why the Liberty U-24 triumphed. Philadelphia reliever Pete Gross got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Derek MacIntosh was tagged with the loss. Huntington, with the loss, is 9-8.
Philadelphia got a knockout punch from Vincent Bordes. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
Philadelphia manager Dan Fletcher praised his team's "energy."
