Holy City and Mancelona got after it at Torch Field.

The Holy City Herons topped the Mancelona Torch, 12-7, at Torch Field. Holy City third baseman Woody Evans was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 7. Rory Taylor, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings.

Evans contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Holy City in the top of the seventh. With his team trailing 6-3, Evans took a sinker from Lao-che Khoo and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Herons to leap in front, 7-6.

"We came out aggressive," said Herons manager Sean Sanford. "We came out swinging the bats."

The loss makes Mancelona 6-12.
