River Rats Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Columbia River Rats faced a tough opponent in Monroeville pitcher Fernando Feliciano, but found a way to pull out the victory at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Feliciano went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Todd Garrett claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The River Rats are now 15-7, while the Yinzers fall to 11-11.
Columbia needed the clutch hitting of Mike Wheeler to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the River Rats on top, 5-2. For the game, Wheeler had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Wheeler.
