Liberty U-24 Tag Yellows with 4-2 Loss
|
Yucca Valley got a decent performance from pitcher Ed Hull, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Liberty U-24. Philadelphia won the Ballpark of Yucca Valley contest, 4-2. Hull threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Philadelphia reliever Pavel van Zundert picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ed Hull absorbed the loss. Philadelphia is now 9-14, Yucca Valley 14-9.
Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Jim Alexander to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Liberty U-24 ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We did a lot of things right," said Alexander.
