6-5 Loss Extends Smoky Mountain Skid
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus and Caldwell Chiefs provided some drama for the home crowd.

In a tight contest at Smokies Stadium, the Caldwell Chiefs edged the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus by the score of 6-5. Caldwell center fielder Chia-ch'ing Chen, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Smoky Mountain now owns a losing streak of 7 games.

Amikishi Saginov went 1-3 with a walk for Caldwell. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Marvin Velásquez. It was his 6th walk of the season.

"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager Ralph Wood.
