River Rats Deal Hermit Crabs 3-1 Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Mike Russell gave the Columbia River Rats a rock-solid effort. The Ocoee, Florida native helped his team defeat the Huntington Hermit Crabs, 3-1, at The Shell. The winner was Russell. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Patches Magickbeans. Tommy Woods was credited with the save for Columbia, his 4th of the season.
Mike Wheeler, who is tied for 3rd in the SA with a .588 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Wheeler contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Columbia up, 3-1.
Columbia manager Bayram Tanaoglu called it "a darn good win."
The Hermit Crabs, now 11-14, have lost 4 straight.
