The Caterpillars grabbed a win, 3-1, at Smokies Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Smoky Mountain pitcher John Turner. Turner went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The Caterpillars now own a record of 12-15.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when catcher Raúl Pérez, who is tied for 6th in the SA in doubles with 6, hit a single. The Caterpillars went on to win.

"I try to not think too much," said Pérez.
