Yellows Rally to Win
The Yucca Valley Yellows did just enough to secure a victory over the Holy City Herons, 5-4, in 11 innings at Mango Yard. Nobody did more than pitcher Richard Fernández. Ralph Dougherty, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. The third-place Yellows have a record of 15-12.

Chad Clayton went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Yucca Valley. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the 11th inning, Clayton had a clutch at-bat. Facing Holy City hurler Mark Lee, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Yellows a 5-4 lead.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Clayton told the Yucca Valley Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
