Columbia Loses, 1-0, in 11
|
Starting pitcher Steve Calhoun was a major factor in the 1-0 Smoky Mountain Hobeaus triumph over the Columbia River Rats. The winner was Smoky Mountain reliever Jake Howell, now 3-0. The loser was Eric Sims. Smoky Mountain bumps their record to 14-15 with the win.
In the bottom of the 11th, Kombayn Khanli knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a run-scoring single off Columbia pitcher Eric Sims.
Khanli called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
