In a low-scoring affair between Holy City Herons and the Grand Forks Caterpillars, pitcher Etienne de Ruijter was the difference-maker. The Holy City right-hander handcuffed the opposition, to help his team pocket a 2-1 win. The win was credited to Mark Lee in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Hirokazu Fukuda took the loss. The Herons, at 18-13, sit in second place in the Silver A.
The Herons got a clutch hit from center fielder José Castro. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Herons.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said de Ruijter.
