The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus stymied the Mancelona Torch, 7-1, at Torch Field. Larry Rothrock had a good day at the plate. He belted 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times for Smoky Mountain. P.J. O'Day, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held Mancelona to 1 run on 1 hit over 7 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. With the win, the Hobeaus improved to 16-19.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fifth. That's when Rothrock hit a run-scoring single off William Maxwell. It propelled the Hobeaus into the lead, 2-1.

"We're producers not directors," said Rothrock. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
