Hobeaus Squeeze By Holy City, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus and the Holy City Herons, Juan Cervantes, who is tied for 10th in the SA in quality starts with 5, proved to be the difference. The Smoky Mountain right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Hobeaus win. Cervantes got the win, improving to 1-4. He gave up 7 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ignacio Ramos nailed down his 4th save.
Smoky Mountain relied on the bat of Kelvin Reynolds to get the win. The third baseman produced a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hobeaus ahead, 2-1. For the game, Reynolds had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Smoky Mountain manager Ralph Wood.
The Hobeaus now have a record of 9-27.
