Loss Tarnishes Fine Performance by Fortey
The Grim Reapers withstood a fine game by Huntington second baseman Nick Fortey at The Coffin, to upend the Hermit Crabs, 7-6. Fortey was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Carlos Balderas came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Sze Wan collected save number 1.

There were several reasons the Reapers beat the Hermit Crabs, but one factor was Eric Conley. In the bottom of the third, the Grim designated hitter came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 4-3 lead.

"Ah," said Conley in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."

The last-place Reapers now have a win-loss record of 13-23.
