Herons Stop Liberty U-24, 3-1

The Holy City Herons knocked off the Philadelphia Liberty U-24, 3-1, in USSL Single A action at Mango Yard. Holy City pitcher and Cul De Sac, Sint Maarten, native Etienne de Ruijter had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was Mark Lee, his 5th. The Herons now have a record of 23-14 with the win over Philadelphia.
In the bottom of the seventh, Holy City pinch hitter Ian Miller put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit his 1st home run of the year. Philadelphia pitcher Gabriel Soto served it up. Just like that, the Herons were ahead, 3-1.
"Tough loss," said Philadelphia manager Dan Fletcher. "But we'll learn from it."
