Hobeaus Drop River Rats, 5-2
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus topped the Columbia River Rats, 5-2, in USSL Single A action at Smokies Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Smoky Mountain pitcher and Brazil, Indiana, native John Turner. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Gordon Taylor. After today's action, Smoky Mountain sits at 17-20; Columbia slips to 23-14.
Gui-fan Leong had a clutch at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Hobeaus. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Smoky Mountain trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Columbia manager Bayram Tanaoglu.
