Philadelphia pitcher Bob Heath did his part in helping his team defeat the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Heath got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ismael Díaz got the save, the 11th for him this season.
Jim Wilson took Grand Forks hurler Alard Elst deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Liberty U-24 on top, 3-2. In all, Wilson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Rio Bavin. "It's usually not just one thing."
Philadelphia bumps their record to 24-14 with the win.
