Airmen Get One-Run Win at Pontiac
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Alameda Airmen and Pontiac Godfathers.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Alameda Airmen and the Pontiac Godfathers, 22-year old right-handed pitcher José López was the difference-maker. The Alameda right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. López yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-2. Joe Anderson picked up his 13th save of the season.
Alameda used a well-timed hit by Luis Hernández to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Airmen ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hernández told the Alameda Chronicle. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
Alameda has run its win streak to 6 consecutive.
