Phillips Leads Grand Forks to 2-1 Win
|
The Coffin hosted a real pitchers' duel.
Tom Phillips, who is tied for 5th in the SA in complete games with 1, imposed his will on the Reapers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 Grand Forks triumph. Mark Peterson earned the save for Grand Forks, his 12th of the year.
Phillips was effective against the Reapers, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The left-hander limited Grim to just 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings.
"Tom showed what he's made of," said Grand Forks manager Oriol Razo.
The Caterpillars improved to 20-22.
