Monroeville starter Doug Kellar pitched well against the Holy City Herons at Mango Yard. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-4, in 11 innings. Monroeville reliever Myung-woo Kang picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Mark Lee was tagged with the loss. Monroeville is 26-16 and Holy City, with the loss, 24-18.
Monroeville used the timely hitting of Ramón Ruíz to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Yinzers on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Ruíz.
