Caterpillars Drop Hobeaus, 2-1

The Grand Forks Caterpillars picked up a win at Smokies Stadium, downing the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 2-1. On the mound for Grand Forks was right-hander John Thomas, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Thomas. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Steve Calhoun. Michael Green recorded the save for Grand Forks, his 9th of the season.
The Caterpillars got a big at-bat from third baseman Efren Alog. For the game, Alog went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Grand Forks a 2-1 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Smoky Mountain manager Ralph Wood. "The effort was great."
The last-place Hobeaus now sit at 11-32.
