It wasn't easy but the Athletic Club KC U-24 made it look that way.

Starter Michael Phillips shut out the Alaskan Bush Pilots despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Athletic Club KC U-24 cruised to victory, 4-0. Phillips allowed only 6 hits and rang up 11 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Looking at his season stats, Phillips has won 6 and lost 2, collecting 70 strikeouts and 7 walks in 71.2 innings with a 1.26 ERA.
