Columbia Gets 6-4 Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Columbia River Rats and Grand Forks Caterpillars.
Columbia first baseman Mike Wheeler was a significant contributor in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Grand Forks Caterpillars. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the River Rats. Luis Villarreal, the winning pitcher, is now 5-2. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 1.
Mark Harris went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs for Columbia. The 23-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Santiago García. It was his 43rd hit of the season.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Wheeler.
Columbia is now 26-17, while Grand Forks is 20-23.
