4-3 Loss Extends Pontiac Skid
|
The Monroeville Yinzers faced a tough opponent in Pontiac pitcher Dan Caine, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Caine went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Jeff McElroy, the winner, goes to 4-3. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 7 innings. Monroeville is second in the Silver A with a record of 30-18.
Ramón Ruíz's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with a runner on 3rd and the game tied, 3-3. The Monroeville pinch hitter hit a run-scoring single off Johnny Matthews to put the Yinzers up.
