Godfathers Squelch Tula Offense in Shutout Win
Pontiac took on Chicago in front of a lively crowd.

Right-hander Steve Stewart mesmerized the Chicago Tula while leading the Pontiac Godfathers to a 4-0 victory. Stewart picked up the win for Pontiac, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3.

The Godfathers got a big hit from center fielder Bill Clapsaddle. Facing Chicago pitcher Gerald Huff in the bottom of the sixth, Clapsaddle pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 6th double of the season put the Godfathers ahead, 4-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Clapsaddle told the Pontiac Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The 6th-place Tula have dropped 5 straight games.
