Godfathers Hand Grand Forks 7-3 Loss
|
Vernon Bryant, who is tied for 8th in the SA in triples with 1, led Pontiac to a win over Grand Forks. The final score was 7-3. Bryant scored 2 times, while going 3 for 4. The second baseman also was credited with 1 run batted in. José Sandoval earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 9 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. At 22-29, Pontiac is in 9th place in the Silver A.
Tied up with the Caterpillars in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Godfathers got a boost from center fielder Hong-yeol Cho. With the bases loaded, Cho saw a first pitch splitter from Ryan Ward and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Pontiac on top, 3-2.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Bryant told the Pontiac Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
