The Monroeville Yinzers scooped up a win at Smokies Stadium, dumping the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 4-2. Jeff McElroy, who is tied for 10th in the SA in wins with 5, was essential to his team's success. McElroy, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Sterling Reece collected save number 11.
In the top of the first, Chris Blanchard ambushed a 0-1 slider from Bubba Orr and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Monroeville a quick 2-0 lead.
McElroy said his team "played with focus and determination."
The first-place Yinzers have won 4 in a row.
