5 Straight Wins for Chiefs
|
The Caldwell Chiefs beat the Delmarva Gallos, 2-1, at The Cage. Starting pitcher Wallace Hicks was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Hicks, the winner, moves to 5-4. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. The Chiefs, at 35-18, have now won 5 straight.
Shane Wood came through with a big-time hit for Caldwell. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Wood called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
