Chiefs Lose as Yellows Stage Late Rally
|
Yucca Valley pitcher Daniel Valdés had a large part in his team beating the Caldwell Chiefs, 6-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Valdés, who is tied for 10th in the SA in strikeouts with 61, went the distance for Yucca Valley. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. Yucca Valley is in 8th place in the Silver A with a record of 23-33.
Yucca Valley center fielder Blake Lee produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the eighth with Enrique Oliva on the mound and Yucca Valley leading 3-2. Lee drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Valdés. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
