Vaughn Neutralizes Hobeaus
The Philadelphia Liberty U-24 got a marvelous performance from pitcher Franklin Vaughn. The right-hander kept the Smoky Mountain offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Philadelphia victory at Liberty Youth Field. The setback makes Smoky Mountain 27-30.

Vaughn was in the zone all game. He frustrated Smoky Mountain hitters while giving the Liberty U-24 8 innings of quality work. Vaughn threw 108 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 9 punchouts.

"Franklin gave us everything he had," said Philadelphia manager Dan Fletcher.
