Godfathers Claim 9-4 Triumph
|
A good performance from third baseman Steve Owens helped the Pontiac Godfathers defeat the Huntington Hermit Crabs, 9-4. Owens went 2-2 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs for the Godfathers. Ming-hoa Meng snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 5 hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. Pontiac, at 26-31, sits in 6th place in the Silver A.
Matt Nance was vital to the Pontiac win. He was 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third with two out, Nance hit a 2-run single. It made the score 4-1, in favor of the Godfathers.
"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said Nance.
