Columbia Stadium was the site for USSL Single A action featuring the Columbia River Rats and Yucca Valley Yellows.
Though he had a stellar game, Manny Feliciano could not prevent his team, the Columbia River Rats, from losing, 6-4, to the Yucca Valley Yellows. Feliciano went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Richard Fernández, who is tied for 7th in the SA in quality starts with 8, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Yucca Valley used a timely hit from 24-year old right fielder Garry Brown to get the win. The right fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yellows on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.
"This is a very good team," said Brown. "We have the chance to do something special."
With the win, Yucca Valley pushed its record to 33-24.
