8-2 Loss to Chiefs Extends Washington Losing Streak
|
Caldwell pitcher Ensio Helminen did his part in helping his team defeat the Washington Generals, 8-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winning pitcher was Helminen, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. The slumping Generals have lost 7 straight.
Caldwell used the hitting of Chia-ch'ing Chen to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 5-2. For the game, Chen had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Washington skipper Kyu-cheol Kye.
