Herons Top Hobeaus to Even Record
|
The Holy City Herons wanted a good start from Chris Stroud -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-1 Holy City win over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus at Smokies Stadium. In 6 innings, Stroud surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 2nd save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Hilton Howell.
Arthur Fletcher had a big 2-run home run for the Herons in the top of the fourth inning. With Holy City leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Carter King and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Herons on top, 3-0.
"Chris gave us everything he had," said Holy City manager Sean Sanford.
At 31-31, the Herons find themselves in 7th place in the Silver A.
