Generals Turn Away River Rats, 4-2
|
Keith Hays was superb against Columbia. The right-hander had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Generals victory. The score was 4-2. Brad Hickton earned his 7th save, after closing out the game. Despite the win, the Generals have a lousy 13-53 record.
Al Hannah had a big 2-run double for the Generals in the bottom of the first inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Raymond Thomas, who is tied for 10th in the SA in innings pitched with 90.2, and swatted a double to left. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Generals ahead, 3-0.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Hays.
