The Yucca Valley Yellows dealt the Columbia River Rats a 3-0 loss at Columbia Stadium. Raúl Rojas, who is tied for 8th in the SA with a .482 slugging percentage, was the star on offense. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Pancho Lizalda notched his 9th save in 12 chances. The 8th-place Yellows bumped their record to 29-39.
With Yucca Valley leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Rojas batted against Columbia pitcher Calvin Burkett. Rojas hit a cutter to left for a solo home run. His 14th home run of the season put the Yellows on top, 2-0.
"Makes our job easier," said Rojas, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
