The Walla Walla Walleye went home winners at Walleye Tank, thanks in large part to starter Greg Stone. Stone stifled the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, enabling Walla Walla to grab the 3-0 win. In 7 innings, Stone surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Ron Smith recorded the save for Walla Walla, his 5th of the season.
Augusto Salcido, who is tied for 8th in the SA in stolen bases with 6, helped out the Walla Walla cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"Watch and learn," said Salcido. "This is what good pitching looks like."
The defeat makes Smoky Mountain 37-32.
