Liberty U-24 Come Up Short at Smoky Mountain, 4-3
|
Smokies Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Philadelphia Liberty U-24 and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus.
Smoky Mountain parlayed a decent outing from starter Jang-jin Na into a solid win over the Philadelphia Liberty U-24. The final score was 4-3. Brandon Martin earned the save for Smoky Mountain, his 7th of the year.
Jacob Webb dealt the Liberty U-24 a blow in the bottom of the seventh. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Smoky Mountain leading 3-2, Webb, who is rated as the 25th best prospect by BNN, hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
Smoky Mountain manager Gianni Martin was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
Smoky Mountain has run its win streak to 7 straight.
