The Grand Forks Caterpillars topped the Philadelphia Liberty U-24, 6-1, with third baseman Tony Mendoza playing a big role. Mendoza was 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Caterpillars in the win. Grand Forks is in 5th place in the Silver A with a record of 36-35.

Grand Forks took a 2-0 lead on Mendoza's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Pete Gross in the top of the sixth, propelled Grand Forks to the win.
