Hobeaus Use Late Surge to Win
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus beat the Monroeville Yinzers, 5-3, at Smokies Stadium. The Hobeaus got a fine performance from third baseman Lee Lee, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Gordon Taylor recorded the save for Smoky Mountain, his 6th of the season. At 38-34, Smoky Mountain is in third place in the Silver A.
Smoky Mountain took a 5-3 lead on Taco Pancake's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Pancake hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Monroeville pitcher Dennis Bates shaking his head.
"We played hard and won," said Lee. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
