Tribe Lifts Godfathers to 6-3 Triumph
The Pontiac Godfathers beat the Philadelphia Liberty U-24 by a score of 6-3. Pontiac shortstop Ted Tribe deserved the lion's share of the credit. Tribe was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Godfathers. The winning pitcher was Álex Canseco. He tossed 92 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Corey Robinson recorded his 1st save for Pontiac.

Tribe contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Pontiac in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-0, Tribe took a changeup from Carlos Huertas and stroked the home run to left-center. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Godfathers to leap in front, 4-2.

After the game, Tribe refused to speak to a reporter for the Pontiac Citizen. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."

By defeating Philadelphia, the 8th-place Godfathers improved to 32-42.
