Smoky Mountain wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Jonah Cervantes, losing to Holy City, 2-1, at Mango Yard. The 8th-place Herons have a record of 35-39.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Holy City. That's when Víctor Ríos hit a solo home run off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Marvin Velásquez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

Ríos said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
