Sosa 4-for-4, Leads Hobeaus to Win
|
Led by 20-year-old Lúcio Sosa, the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus knocked off the Monroeville Yinzers, 5-1. Sosa was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Hobeaus. Bob Bradley, the winner, improved to 7-3. He held Monroeville to 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. The save was credited to Brandon Martin, his 9th.
Sosa had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-2 sinker from John Dodson, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Hobeaus a 3-1 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Sosa.
"I thought we played a nice game," Sosa told the Smoky Mountain Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The first-place Yinzers dropped to 48-27.
