Walleye Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Walla Walla Walleye faced a tough opponent in Mancelona pitcher Knud Sterner, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Torch Field by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Sterner went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Walla Walla pitcher Brenden Pilgrim got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Lao-che Khoo got the loss. Richard Albright got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Luis Torres came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Mancelona pitcher Jaime Trujillo, he hit a 1-1 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Walla Walla on top, 4-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Torres.
The Walleye go to 29-47 with the win.
